Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, was founded in 1976 as a residential university with the goal of advancing research and higher education across disciplines, with a focus on environmental, ecological, and biological sciences.
The university received an “A+” rating from NAAC in March 2019 as a consequence of its overall development in all departments. Following the 2012 amendment to the Maharshi Dayanand University Act, the Directorate limited the delivery of its courses to remote learners from its headquarters. This has allowed a large segment of the population, particularly disadvantaged groups living in remote and rural areas, housewives, and working people, to have access to higher education. The Directorate of Distance Education is now known as the Center for Distance and Online Education as of April 1, 2022.
The mission of the Center for Distance and Online Education is to create, preserve, and spread knowledge in order to enhance competitiveness and promote the overall well-being of society and humankind. The Centre for Distance and Online Education offers a range of programs that cater to local requirements and job prospects in the nation, from traditional to professional. To accommodate the increasing demand for online and remote learning, the CDOE has procured resources to expand its reach into rural regions. With the tagline “reach the unreached,” the CDOE is making a substantial contribution to the national goal of delivering high-quality education to all students by providing beneficial remote learning opportunities to students from all around the State and Nation.
