Jamia Millia Islamia, was founded in Aligarh in the year 1920 and later it was established as a Central University in New Delhi in the year 1988, It has a rich history of dedication and vision. It was born out of the convergence of anti-colonial Islamic activism and pro-independence aspirations. The institute faced financial crises and political challenges but persisted with the support of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi. Despite initial hardships, it flourished under the leadership of Dr. Zakir Husain, who introduced innovative educational methods and shifted the campus to Delhi in 1936. Over the years, Jamia has expanded its academic offerings, and become a central university in the year 1988, and established various faculties, centers, and research institutes. Today, it stands as a candle of learning with a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduation programs fields. Ranked 3rd in the country by NIRF 2022, it holds the highest grade of ‘A++’ by NAAC and It has received prestigious research awards. With faculties spanning Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering & Technology, and more, it houses over thirty research centers addressing contemporary issues. Admission is through national-level entrance tests, and the campus, spread across 239 acres students. The university boasts a strong faculty, many of whom hold prestigious fellowships and serve as a leadership role in other institutions.
