Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 in Kurukshetra, Haryana. It was inaugurated by Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India and it had only one department at that time, the Department of Sanskrit. The university gives importance to the deprived students who want to get a good education. The center for distance and online education was established with a motive to reach the unreached and to make a knowledge society by offering education at the doorstep of the learners.
