About University of Hyderabad Distance Education

The Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning (CDVL) at the University of Hyderabad, established in the year 1994, has grown from offering two diploma programs to providing fourteen one-year diploma programs that are employable, knowledge-oriented, and skill-developing to enhance their domain. These programs are delivered via distance and in fully online modes, Majorly targeting working professionals, including government employees, or from MNCs, and homemakers. The programs are approved by reputed UGC-AICTE-DEC joint committee and aim to increase accessibility, reduce infrastructure constraints, act as catalysts for institutional transformation, reduce physically challenged individuals, and promote lifelong learning for them.

The mission of CDVL is to create a supportive learning environment for national and international students, providing training and counseling even on weekends. Unique features include partnerships with public and private organizations to offer hands-on training and upskilling in various fields such as Rural Development, Agriculture, Health Science, Forensic Science, Cyber Laws, Telecom Technology, and AI & ML. The center is recognized by NAAC, WES New York, and Toronto, and aligns its content with NEP-2020 ABC norms to facilitate multiple entry and exit options. 

CDVL have successfully enrolled around 25,000 students, with significant placement success and further studies opportunities. The center collaborates with institutions like NAARM, NIRD&PR, BSNL-RTTC, Apollo Med Skills, IFCAI, and LV Prasad Eye Institute for technical support and placements. New initiatives include medical line programs with LV Prasad Eye Institute and Fernandez Hospital, paid apprenticeship programs through Team lease Edtech Ltd, and admissions via national portals like SAMARTH and DIGILOKER.

Admission Procedure for CDVL, University of Hyderabad

Admission 

  • Eligible students will receive a provisional admission letter. 
  • Admission will be confirmed only after fee payment within the stipulated date. 
  • Verification of original certificates will be done during contact classes. 
  • Students have to bring original certificates for verification to appear for the term-end exams. 
  1. Submission of Application Forms
  • Completed application forms with self-attested copies of relevant certificates must be sent to: The Section Officer, Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning, University of Hyderabad, Golden Threshold Building, Abids, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabad – 500 001  
  1. List of Enclosures
  • Online Payment Receipt (Registration fee: Rs. 300) 
  • Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Matriculation (Date of Birth proof) 
  • Intermediate/Higher Secondary Education, 10+2 
  • Provisional/Original Degree 
  • Any other higher qualification certificates 
  • Two passport photos 
  1. Enrollment Number
  • Issued upon payment of program fee and displayed on Enrollment Cards. 
  • Valid for up to three years or until the course is completed. 
  • Used as the examination roll number. 
  1. General Information
  • Intimation of Selection: Candidates will be notified via email. 
  • Reservations: 
  • SC/ST/OBC/EWS as per Government of India and UGC guidelines. 
  • Physically Challenged (PC): 3% of seats reserved, with a minimum disability of 40%. 
  • Admission of Foreign Applicants: 
  • Must apply within the stipulated date and meet qualifying examination requirements. 
  • Proficiency in English is required. 
  • Higher program fee applicable. 
  1. Payment of Fee
  • Fees can be paid in two equal installments or one lump sum. 
  • Payments must be made online via SBI Collect. 
  1. Delayed Payment
  • Failure to pay the second installment by the due date results in penalties. 
  • First Deferment: Rs. 1,000 
  • Second Deferment: Rs. 1,500 
  • Fee is non-refundable. 
  • Students can complete the course within three years from the date of admission. 
  1. Enrollment Card & Study Material
  • Enrollment Card issued upon fee receipt. 
  • Study material will be sent via email. 
  1. Program Schedule
  • Programs are spread over two terms per year (January and June). 
  1. Contact Program
  • Mandatory attendance for contact classes at the university campuses or online. 
  • 75% attendance is required for contact classes and practical sessions. 
  • Participation in seminars ,counseling sessions is mandatory, carrying 10% of total marks. 

University of Hyderabad Evaluation System and Results

The evaluation system for the Diploma program includes both internal assessments and term-end examinations to systematically gauge student progress. 

Internal Assessment

– **Assignments**:  

  – Evaluated for 30% of total marks. 

  – Assignments are sent with course materials. 

  – Completed assignments must be submitted to : The Section Officer, Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning, Nampally Station Road, Abids, Hyderabad 500001. 

– **Submission Deadline**: Assignments must be submitted within the stipulated date. 

Term-End Examinations

– **Evaluation**: Accounts for 60% of total marks. 

– **Eligibility**: Students must attend contact sessions and submit assignments on time. 

– **Passing Marks**: Minimum of 40% out of total marks required. 

Examinations for Foreign Nationals/NRIs

– Online Proctored Exams: Efforts will be made to conduct term-end exams online. 

– Contact Sessions Abroad: Conducted if there are 15+ foreign/NRI students at a location; otherwise, online classes are required. 

Results Calculation

Contact Classes/Percentage: 10% 

  – Internal Assessments: 30% 

  – Term-End Exams: 60% 

  – Students who do not meet the criteria may have to reappear in subsequent exams with a fee of Rs. 500 per paper. 

Grading System

– First Division with Distinction: 75% and above 

– First Division: 60% to below 75% 

– Second Division: 50% to below 60% 

– Third Division: 40% to below 50% 

*Note: Students who do not submit assignments or attend 75% of contact classes will not be permitted to write the exams.
