Rabindra Bharati University or RBU was founded in 1962 by the Rabindra Bharati Act- 1961 issued by the Govt. of West Bengal. The university was named after Rabindranath Tagore. It was the third university made in the city of Kolkata. The university is dedicated to the memory of the poet, and it promotes Tagore’s ideas in Arts, Humanities, and Social Science. The Centre for Distance and Online Education, which was previously called Directorate of Distance Educations or DDE was started in the year 2002, aimed to provide knowledge to people living in the remote areas of the state.
The mission of the university includes optimum utilization of resources for the development of a knowledge-based society. They also aim for the advancement of higher education through open and distance education system. The university has 27 departments and 42 affiliated colleges.
Rabindra Bharati University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and awarded an “A+” grade with a CGPA of 3.71. The university is also affiliated by the University Grants Commission and it is a member of Association of Indian Universities. The National Institutional Ranking Framework has given the university a rank of 32 overall and 22 among universities. It is also approved by All India Council for Technical Education as well as the Distance Education Bureau.

Step 1: Admission announcement by the university usually starts around May or June through the official website (https://www.rbucdoe.ac.in/)
Step 2: Students are instructed to check their eligibility criteria for the program they are looking for.
Step 3: Filling out the application form through the website portal. Students will have to pay the admission fees also.
Step 4: Submission of essential documents with the hard copy of the application form through the learner support center the university advises.
Step 5: Admission confirmation from the university after document verification.
The examination patterns will be different according to specific programs. The university follows semester systems in which exams are conducted twice a year. In the exams, questions include MCQs, short answer questions, long answer questions, and essay questions. The assessments will also include assignments, projects, practical exams and presentations and it depends on the subjects.
